At Cheltenham and Gloucester Flowers, we know what pleasure flowers can bring to people. They lift our mood, they’re aesthetically pleasing and their scent can lift the spirit.

We’ve been supplying the trade and the retail market for many years, and it gives us great delight to know that our customers love our products as much as we do.

We’re often asked what type of arrangement is suitable for certain areas in the home, so in this article, we’ve put together some simple techniques that can transform your living space.

Floral arrangements never go out of fashion. Whether they’re fresh or faux, they always brighten up a space with their colour and form. The right flower type in the right receptacle can look truly stunning and serve as a magnificent focal point to your home.

Flowers come in all shapes and sizes, colours and forms – that’s the beauty of them! You can play around to make your own perfect arrangement!

Where to display them? Again, the choice is yours, but here’s some pointers as to what and where they display to their best ability.

Outside the front door

Displaying floral decorations outside your front door is pretty on trend right now. A seasonal wreath is joyous and welcoming and a pair of evergreen laurels or topiary box trees ooze understated elegance and luxury.

The Hallway

One of the nicest places to put a floral display is in the hallway. Not only are you greeted with a fresh fragrant perfume, but you’ll be welcomed in with a luscious mix of colour. A striking, colourful bloom will also be a conversation starter as soon as guests arrive. Depending on the size of your hall, you can choose an arrangement to fit your space. A large display on a hall table looks fantastic, but if you don’t have the space, a single orchid would work just as well.

The Dining Room

This is where you can really let your creativity run wild! If you have a round dining table, it’s best to stick to just one display as a centre piece to the room. However, if you have a long dining table, they why not experiment with a row of 3 symmetrical blooms placed down the centre of the table. It gives the room a touch of luxury and elegance.

The Lounge

The lounge is probably the most used space in the home, and this is where you can be bold with colours and textures. Big and bold alliums, showy hydrangeas or elegant lillies will all add a touch of class to your lounge area. Elaborate displays may be better, from a safety point of view, against a wall instead of in the centre of the room, especially if you have children and animals.

The Kitchen

Nothing brightens up a kitchen more that a country display of cottage flowers and foliage. It’s homely and inviting and displayed on a kitchen table, will lift your heart every morning!

The Bedroom

Small displays on the bedside table look kitsch and pretty. They’ll be the last thing you see before you go to bed and the first thing you see in the mornings. What a great start to the day when you see a beautiful, scented bloom as soon as you open your eyes!
